The Rasian Academy is the common name for the Grand Academy of Rasia, the greatest institution of magic and learning in the Anrel Isles.
The Gnosticians were originally founded to study the origins of god-elementals, or 'deitals', and the cults that surrounded them, in order to limit the evolution of new gods and limit their influence. The Gnostician Library, amassed over several centuries, contained a vast array of works of ritual, comparative theology, myth, prophecy, esoteric writings and descriptions of the fundamental nature and properties of various gods.

Several centuries before the time of Belikast, the Magisters forbade students from dabbling in the field of gnostics, so that students trained in the Gnostician school could only be lay members of the Academy.
