Aliment
Aliment is a somewhat archaic term for the natural magnetic force in the unusually strong magnetosphere of Helevos, which is the natural source of sustenance for elementals. Aliment is consumed and stored in the ethereal bodies of elementals, and can be used to power magic. The energy used is called thaumic energy.
Magnetic energy naturally flows in lines around the world. The presence of earth elementals, called nōens, diverts this energy into powerful rivers of magnetic energy, called ‘lines of aliment’. Due to the attractive/repulsive force of nōens, these lines naturally form a grid pattern across the world.
Aliment lines are particularly strong areas of magnetic flux. Elementals are particularly found in these areas, as they can easily “feed” and restore their energy.
