They have long slender bodies, with four pairs of paddle-like limbs allowing them to move with moderate speed over muddy land, but with great speed in the water. They have a long slender snout filled with sharp teeth, with which they capture prey. They spend most of their time in rivers and riverbanks, though they are known to hunt inland when short of prey, or moving to new feeding grounds.
