Abel Palace

Abel Palace is a royal residence in the city of Belisan Freeport in the Kingdom of Narette, sitting atop Abel Hill on the eastern edge of the city. It was originally a fortress constructed during the Long War for defence of the eastern approaches to the city. It was laid seige to by Northern League forces and partly destroyed in 239 MEplugin-autotooltip__small plugin-autotooltip_bigModern Epoch (ME)

The castle remained a military enclosure until the end of the war and was inadequately maintained for decades after. In subsequent centuries it was variously used as a military store, then a prison. As it became more ruinous it was a haunt for the most disreputable dregs of the docks who huddled for shelter in its grim walls.

In 1094 it was given to the Sann'ali court-in-exile, who had been travelling the royal courts of Anrelplugin-autotooltip__small plugin-autotooltip_bigAnrel Isles

Anrel [ANN-rel], or the Anrel Isles, is the most northerly island group in the Natorn Archipelago. It consists of three major islands and numerous smaller ones. The largest, colloquially if infrequently called Mainland, is divided between the kingdoms of Trésard and Narette. The island
in search of support and asylum. King Ehamet IX of Narette, in what was seen as an insulting move characteristic of his sour nature, gave the fort to the Sann'ali.

With funds from the Sann'ali Merchant Fleet, Ralam Kenor Berill was able to restore and rebuild the castle. He named it Abel Palace, abel meaning father in Besoaad. It became the envy of lords throughout Narette, a founding influence for a new style of architecture.
