The Natorn Sea is a region of oceanic ridge, separating the Polassirn Ocean and the Redeeming Ocean. Islands in the ridge form the Natorn Archipelago.
Etymology
The name may be derived from ancient Ahngrit, meaning “near/of our birth”, referring to the legend of the Godmen in which humanity is said to have originated in region now lost beneath the sea. It also relates to the god.
It was once the site of an ancient oracle, an underground temple said to date from the time of the Godmenplugin-autotooltip__small plugin-autotooltip_bigGodmen
The Godmen were the mythical inhabitants of a landmass contiguous with the modern Natorn Archipelago, said to be the ancestors of all the Thalsic peoples of the northern Civilised World. In the Emerald Epoch they created the first great civilisation, referred to as the Realm of the Godmen. The Godmen are said to be mytho-historic, memories of an ancestor race shrouded by millennia of HartheraAnrelAnrelherherAnrelAnrel. The oracle is long since buried or lost, but mystics are said to still hear the voice of the gods in this location.
The site is regularly visited by people seeking spiritual solace or to pray to the gods, but the greatest gathering is the Hevúl Festival. Every three years devotees of the Anrelian Pantheon, mainly from Sensatard but from throughout the Anrel Isles, make the journey to Hevúl, setting up a temporary tented town. The festival runs for three days, with communal prayers, ceremonies and offerings to the gods.
A key religious feature of the site is a gateway or portal, said to open once every three year allowing spiritual access to the Realm of the Godmen.
