Most are predatory, using their saw-like mouths to burrow into the flesh of prey. They also commonly feed on carrion. Vireels are relatively slow moving compared to most greenfish and not usually a concern in areas of human habitation. However, big swarms of small, fast-moving vireels can be dangerous to humans swimming in infested waters.
