South Pole

The South Pole region consists of a permanent cap of ice covering sea, numerous islands and one large island continent, mostly concealed within a pack of sea ice which encompasses latitudes from roughly 75°C to the pole. The ice also encompasses the southern tip of the continent of Vuliméplugin-autotooltip__small plugin-autotooltip_bigVulimé

Vulimé, or Voulimay (in Mayápo), is an island continent far to the south and east of Anásthias, more than 10,000km distant. The continent stretches 8400km from 25°S to 75°S , from subtropical forest in the north to icey tundra in the south.

accounts refer to the southern continent, as Dahroshahp or Dahro, meaning “cutting cold”. This name probably only referred to the areas of tundra not covered by ice.

The polar continent is° 9600 km on its longest axis, with hundreds of smaller islands enclosed within a continuous ice shelf that extends over the South Polar Sea. Helevos has eight thousand years of recorded history, with archeology, artefacts and myth stretching back much further. There are two dominant views of human history: the theological view that the whole world and humanity were created some thousands of years ago in one instant of creation; the second, that all humanity descends from a race of fallen demigods called the viridEmerald EpochBMEgreenBMEAnásthiasAnásthiasBMEAnásthiasfolkloreMiyarrisGodmenBMEMEOrorrHartheraMEviridAnásthi…

Geography

The polar continent has been rarely visited, since its rugged icebound coast is riddled with icebergs and fjords of precipitous rock with nothing of use or interest to explorers. The interior is high and mountainous, with plateaux up to five thousand metres high, covered with permanent snow and ice, its glaciers creeping slowly down to the sea. Only the far northern peninsula has any life. At 45°S its latitude is sufficient for temperate viridplugin-autotooltip__small plugin-autotooltip_bigVirid

shrubland and tundra, where life struggles to survive in the thin soil, blasted by glacial wind.

The polar sea is covered by a permanent ice sheet which varies with the seasons, being larger in winter and smallest in late summer. The sea ice ranges from 73°S to sometimes 80°S in warmer summers.

In previous cooler epochs the polar sea was permanently frozen, the ice pack covering virtually the whole island as well as southern reaches of Voulimayplugin-autotooltip__small plugin-autotooltip_bigVoulimay
