The Hartheran Union, commonly named Harthera, is an imperialist maritime nation state dominating the northeast of Anásthias. It is one of the two great powers of the modern epoch, arguably the most technologically and militarily powerful nation in the world, only matched by the vast size and wealth of its neighbour, viridviridOrorrMEOrorrOrorrOrorrOrorr capital, Vahltor. It is the heart of the Hartheran justice system, housing the vast judicial bureaucracy of the Courts.
Its architecture is a clash of styles from the grandiose to the brutalist. By a quirk of history the south end of the building it is also official headquarters of the Admiralty of the Hartheran Navy, though in practice it only houses the relatively modest bureaucracy of the Naval Board, the majority of the actual administration of naval supply and logistics happening in Harlon.

The Hartheran Union, commonly named Harthera, is an imperialist maritime nation state dominating the northeast of Anásthias. It is one of the two great powers of the modern epoch, arguably the most technologically and militarily powerful nation in the world, only matched by the vast size and wealth of its neighbour, viridviridOrorrMEOrorrOrorrOrorrOrorr. It is a huge edifice, five storeys high in places, a vast wall of stone, pillars and triumphalist architecture fronting a rambling mass of utilitarian blocks and gloomy courtyards, where the ceaseless tidal paperwork of state flows back and forth. All important government records are kept here, and all passports, licenses and civic documentation are issued from the various high draughty halls that punctuate the building. Ordered queues often spill out into nearby streets on busy days. It is also home to the High Courts of Justice, notoriously whimsical and inefficient law-givers.
History
The palace was begun in the Hartheran Commonwealth reign of King Cliran the Elder, who resolved to build a new, modern residence downhill from the grim and slimy walls of the Detatedn. The original palace had a grand semi-circular facade of yellow and white stone and hundreds of amberglass windows.
