The game proceeds with each player (often two, but up to four) taking blocks out of the bag in turn, until there are none left. Part of the strategy is to select a balanced set of blocks at the start.
Play begins with whoever has selected the black cube. This is placed in the centre of the board. Each player then places a block in the growing pile on the board, the object being to be the last player to be able to place a stable block without the pile collapsing.
It is believed to have originated as a childrens' game using carpenters' offcuts, but was elevated to a more strategic artform by bored Gobalay soldiers following their takeover of the Gaal Empire.
