The Mother Church is the state religion of Ororr, which combines both religion and government in one institution. It is based on the teachings of the Great Prophet Therion, who in the early decades of the modern era raised an army that conquered much of northwestern OrorrOrorrOrorrOrorrOrorrMEMEOrorrMEMEOrorrOrorrHerHerHerHerHerHerHerHerHerher missionaries amongst the Othei nomads found Therist doctrine being combined with traditional Othei tribal chanting. The Othei had a strong tradition of oral history music, and use of chants for travel, social gatherings and ceremonies. Missionaries brought these chants to the southern heights of Siltorn where the Therist communities developed entracing, mystical chants which induced profound feelings of religious ecstacy.
In the 6th century ME a more formal Melismatic mission travelled to Foratuna in an attempt to sway the central heirarchy into adopting this revelation. They were rebuffed, and went to dwell in the deep desert of Mangasor, where they joined with the Tsaarmodites. Isolated from the world they became increasingly distant and faded into memory.
Though the Melismatic movement was controversial, some of its undoubtedly ethereal and transcendant music has influenced mainstream Therist music.
