Anrel [ANN-rel], or the Anrel Isles, is the most northerly island group in the Natorn Archipelago. It consists of three major islands and numerous smaller ones. The largest, colloquially if infrequently called Mainland, is divided between the kingdoms of Trésard and Narette. The island, and the Helias Helecarn, a compilation and retelling of ancient histories, myths and philosophy.

He was born to a Trésardi merchant family in the city of Marr Sirque in Kahtoyn, where he spent the early part of his childhood. His father was a collector and seller of antiquarian books particularly from old Traithe and Miyarris, which fired the young Mingas's interest in history and mythology.
