Oracil

Oracil was a historic city-state in the east of modern Narette in the Anrel Isles, in the foothills of the Laharkin Mountains. Oracil is thought to have been founded by an Iskean-ethnic tribe around 1100 BME. The city grew rich on the fertile soils surrounding Mount Oracil, as well as mines burrowed deep into the mountains of the Laharkin Range.

The Natorn Sea is a region of oceanic ridge, separating the Polassirn Ocean and the Redeeming Ocean. Islands in the ridge form the Natorn Archipelago.

Etymology

The name may be derived from ancient Ahngrit, meaning “near/of our birth”, referring to the legend of the Godmen in which humanity is said to have originated in region now lost beneath the sea. It also relates to the god
.

The city was destroyed in a firestorm in 678 BME, during the conflict now known as the Dragon War. In the mythic account, the Grand Master of the Rasian Academy, Ferokian, rode a wing of dragons which belched flame that destroyed the city.

Modern historians credit environmental damage and social collapse following an earthquake and minor eruption of the nearby Mount Oracil as the true reasons for the downfall of the city, which lies half buried and abandoned beneath the mountain.
