Peupra

Peupra [peh-ERR-pra] is a deep purple-blue dye, obtained from the marsh peurpra, a virid plant native to marshy areas of western Munatan. Historically it grew in abundance in the swamps surrounding the city of Nepor, and was a famous export of that city.

Today the major centre of cultivation is around the Limerent Sea as well as surrounding Nepor, and it is a major export of Hesjbagaaia. Consequently peupra is the national colour of Hesjbagaaian, appearing on banners and flags.

Peupral is concentrated in the plant buds, where it both prevents the buds from rotting in waterlogged conditions, and has a bitter and mildly toxic effect to viridplugin-autotooltip__small plugin-autotooltip_bigVirid

Referring to the Virid Kingdom of flora and fauna, toxic to human life. animals discouraging them from grazing. As such, textiles dyed in peupra are resistent to mildew and veilspor as well as many insects, though this effect declines with the age of the garment. Robes of peupra are the traditional clothing of nobility and royalty, while the middle classes have peupra stripes around the neck and sleeves, creating the distinctive striped fabrics characteristic of southern attire.
