This is in a series of articles about Languages and Communication.

Historically the coast of Ravorr was settled by Junda peoples, referred to as the Junda Coast. Junda were very active traders, bringing new words and terms to otherwise isolated peoples in the region. In later centuries Rouvawetig also acquired trade words from many other languages.

Since Ravorr's conquest by Harthera some five hundreds years ago the majority of Ravorrans have become acculturated as Hartherans, and the vast majority speak Hartraan. However, many still speak their native language in private, particularly the agrarian poor in rural areas, though this is frowned on by polite society and considered a sign of ill breeding.

Both the Oonari and Saloyans considered Rouvawetig to be an ugly debasement of the pure Eloyoun tongue, and the language is frowned upon by modern Hartherans.
