School of Night

The School of Night was a private establishment related to the Rasian Academy in Trésard. It was principally a club house for academics, top students and prominent non-academics sharing an interest in the liberal arts. As well as libraries, galleries and gaming rooms, it was famous for its parties held throughout the year.

The School operated in a private estate on an island just off the south coast of Lake Ondrere near Rasia. This had once been a private residence, which was donated to the School in the 1st century BME. It consisted of a main house with two wings and numerous courtyards, sleeping quarters, various outbuildings, extensive gardens, cellars, and an underground temple connected to the sea, used in secret initiation rituals.

The School was not a secret organisation, but demanded discretion. Members of sufficient standing could nominate friends and acquaintances for membership, which was only accepted after discreet scrutiny by a membership committee. Members were approached and engaged in conversation by third parties, ascertaining their views and suitability for membership. Only once this was satisfied would the candidate be invite to attend.

The inner circles of the School were in fact a cell of the Seborim, exercising a subtle political agenda to promote social and political enlightenment amongst the upper echelons of society, with the aim of improving humanity as a whole.

The School flourished from 800 BME but languished under the Magisteriate and was sold. It fell into ruin when the region was abandoned during the Long War.
