In ancient times it was the independent Kingdom of Derailad, which was officially annexed in 36 ME by the Kingdom of Alsan following the Battle of Four Kingdoms. In 1089 the island was conquerred by the Hartheran Union, and liberated in 1114 by forces led by the exiled Prince Ralam Kenor Berill. It is now one of the provinces of the United Kingdom of Besoa.
