The Jade Flower Temple is a Therist pandata at the city of Seqal in Ororr. It sits on the rocky promontory above the famous Eidolons of Seqal, a landmark well known to travellers and pilgrims along the River Wiyel. At night it is lit with brasiers so its greenplugin-autotooltip__small plugin-autotooltip_bigGreen

History

The Eidolons were created in pagan times thousands of years ago, and are a famous icon of the city of Seqal. Despite their pagan origins, they were designated an ancient protected treasure by the Great Prophet himself. For centuries the church resented their symbolism of the pagan past, but engineers had long considered the rock above unable to bear the weight of a conventional temple. Consequently in 1043 ME construction began of a temple of modern design, of wood and metal, strong but relatively light.

Construction

The temple is roofed with a bronze cupola in the shape of an open flower, coloured green with verdigris. The cupola covers an open pavilion with a central column and spectacular views over the surrounding landscape, with wooden shutters to protect the inside from weather. Though called a pandata it is not a complete Theristplugin-autotooltip__small plugin-autotooltip_bigMother Church of Ororr (Therism)

The Mother Church is the state religion of Ororr, which combines both religion and government in one institution. It is based on the teachings of the Great Prophet Therion, who in the early decades of the modern era raised an army that conquered much of northwestern OrorrOrorrOrorrOrorrMEOrorrMEMEOrorrOrorrHerHerHerHerHerHerHerHerHerher

The temple is commonly visited by pilgrims undergoing the Shouft or Great Pilgrimage of Therist tradition. It is accessed by a path winding past the Temple of the Eidolons, which is now a museum of religious history.

Folklore

In the 1070s the temple became notorious for suicides hurling themselves from its great height into the river beneath, particularly by the lovelorn. Since then the temple has had permanent attendants day and night.
