The Eloyoun people are an ethnic group found throughout eastern and northeastern Anásthias. They are the majority ethnicity in Kahtoyn and most of southern Harthera. Modern Hartheran language and culture is a blend of Eloyoun and Iskean.

The Eloyoun people claim descent from the ancient realm of
kingdoms in the region, second only to Saloya.

History

Oonar was an oligarchy, a nation that sought to retain all the heights of Miyarrain art and elegance. Its founders claimed to have fled north after the destruction of Miyarris long ago, and aped the art and architecture of the old times. Oonari oligarchs hoarded ancient treasures, devices and lore, and dreamed of recapturing the favour of the Guardian Gods who had abandoned them and allowed Miyarrisplugin-autotooltip__small plugin-autotooltip_bigMiyarris

Miyarris [mee-YA-riss], (also Miarris, from Mayápo Mayarous) was a hugely influential ancient civilisation located which flourished during the Celadon Epoch, from 4000-3000 BME. It is considered the first great civilisation in history since the the mythic Godmen.

to be destroyed.

The kingdom was large and generally wealthy, ruled from the beauteous city of Mariyë, modern Narillin. Its armed forces were well trained and disciplined, and fought in the old style: tightly regimented formations and a variety of complex weapons: long staves with elegantly vicious steel heads, that were thin, light and retained their razor edge while slashing at their opponents. The kingdom expanded along the River Nar and built cities of soaring conical towers that mimicked the days of old. However, they were merely shells of plaster over rude wood and brick frames, and a Saloyan traveller famously called Oonar “the Land of Falling Statues”.

The Oonari were arrogant and, in some ways, brutal and ignorant beneath their elegant facade. They lauded thought and beauty, while crushing innovation and original thought. They espoused the old ideals of virtue and liberty, whilst their kingdom was run by serfs, where 'inferior' races were excluded from participation in education and government. In later centuries Oonar became decadent, its lords maintaining a facade whilst becoming militarily weak.

In its heyday Oonar was a garden kingdom of tranquility and beauty, but their decadence was the reason used by the Hartherans to crush them.
