Geography

The island is 47 km at its longest point, consisting of flat virid salt scrub and low hills. Due to the low elevation of the island there is relatively little protection from the sea and storm tides, making it vulnerable to inundation during the storm season. The low-lying coast is surrounded by a treacherous wave-cut shelf, a hazard to shipping.

Because of its inhospitable nature the island has only a small permanent human population, surviving on fishing and the few crops and fruit trees that can grow in the island's thin soil. In past centuries both Vetth and Ororr tried to establish permanent settlements here, but the lack of fresh water and arable land means that any sizeable population could only survive by receiving regular supplies from elsewhere.

The island's only significant settlement is Net, a small port town on the island's only navigable harbour, on the northern tip of the island. It is dominated by a crumbling Ororran fort and observation tower, which is now mostly abandoned and used as a Therist chapel. This is the only surviving structure from past Ororran attempts to use the island as a staging post for conquering Vetth. The chapel was destroyed during the War of 813, after which Ororr signed an agreement to not use the island for military purposes.
