Arelia

Arelia was once a large island in what is now the Natorn Archipelago, contiguous with the the modern islands of Besoa, Antyok and southern parts of The Spines. In earlier epochs sea levels were much lower, the modern islands being the uplands of a larger landmass. The islands of Besoa and Antyoq are sometimes figuratively referred to as Arelia.

According to legend, the coast of Arelia formed part of the ancient Realm of the Godmen. A few artifacts survive from ancient times, such as at the oracle at Welvér in southeastern Besoa, though no contemporary maps, texts or inscriptions have been found from the period.

The name is still used poetically, and as a means of inspiring regional harmony.

Arelia is also a name of one of the female Godmen, personifying the spirit of the islands, though this is a relatively late invention.
