Emmer is a grassy green plant cultivated throughout the Civilised world for its edible grain seeds. Emmerseed is threshed and ground to make a heavy flour, used for bread and a wide variety of other products.

Although emmer is tolerant of a variety of climates, it gains the best yields in temperate climes with a moderate amount of rain. The foremost regions for emmer production are the central uplands of Harthera, and the Siltorn and Deltirot regions of Ororr. The island of Antyok was formerly the greatest exporter of emmer in the Natorn Archipelago due to its rich volcanic soils, but production collapsed during the Bizoan War leading to widespread famine in the southern isles.
Emmer is also used to brew beer.
