Gerod of Ben Akir

Gerod of Ben Akir is the credited author of the eponymous Mysteries of Gerod, a series of accounts of mystical encounters with gods and spirits, revelations and prophecies. The Mysteries have been a part of Anrelian culture since at least the 6th century ME, though their authorship is reputed to be much older.

Ben Akir is the ancient name for the ancient metropolis located at modern Beyán, but the historicity of “Gerod” himself is much debated. Possibly he was an early compiler of accounts, since many of its stories are first person narratives most likely culled from oral histories, or direct testimony written down. When Gerod lived is uncertain, but the Mysteries evolved and was added to over several centuries, becoming static around the 7th century MEplugin-autotooltip__small plugin-autotooltip_bigModern Epoch (ME)
