. They named the city Heth Ania, meaning “new Ania”, and consequently their home became Nos Ania, “true Ania”.

The original settlement was destroyed during the Long War, and its site swamped with the rise in sea level at the end of the Little Age in the 8th century ME. The modern inland city was planned and constructed in the 9th century, and became the new national capital when the government moved from Himéath. Since then it has become the cultural as well as political capital.

The city is a summer port in a gently sloping half-bowl of rich green farmland. It is notably spacious, with wide boulevards and many public gardens, the royal palace surrounded by parkland which is open to the public in the daytime. The city is home to Elliole Academy, the foremost institution for learning in Narette, attended by many children of the Naretian nobility.

Despite being the capital, it has a historic trade rivalry with Nos Ania, while the deepwater port of Belisan is the hub for international trade.
