Issid Stone Gods

The ancient Issid people had an animist faith, believing that spirits resided in the air and in certain rocks and holy places. They particularly revered certain shaped stones and rocks, leaving offerings and performing rituals.

Despite the many changes in culture and religions over the millennia, this belief still persists in Ororr, where places such as Foratuna, Seqal and the Old Man of Niseq are places of reverence and pilgrimage, and there is a strong belief in spirits of the air, though these are mostly believed to be hostile to mankind.
