It lies at the mouth of the River Sourayn, which flows through the richest green farmland in the region. Consequently Desol is a major trade hub for agricultural products such as food, textiles and green lumber.

The Eloyoun people are an ethnic group found throughout eastern and northeastern Anásthias. They are the majority ethnicity in Kahtoyn and most of southern Harthera. Modern Hartheran language and culture is a blend of Eloyoun and Iskean.

Es Terin is a city in Kahtoyn, about 100 km south of the Hartheran frontier. It is the the most northerly city in Kahtoyn, and nominally a trade outpost for Hartheran merchants. The Hartheran military have made numerous attempts to conquer and annex the city, usually finding the locals uncomprehending and non-compliant, or the town's population simply vanishes overnight.
Hirèrk [hee-R-ERR-k hi'røk] is the northernmost region of Kahtoyn. Its foremost city is Marr Sirque, the principle trade port of Kahtoyn and gateway to the region.
The province is known internationally for the Hirèrk Moonscale, the famous calendar of Miyarris, which was used and misused by scholars for millennia after.

The Hook of Anarr, also called the Horn of Sere, is an isolated and sparsely inhabited peninsula in the southeast of Kahtoyn in Otekahré. Its marks the division between the Redeeming Ocean and the Great Urash Ocean.
