At the time, the King-Emperor and an aristocratic class of mainly Dorouns ruled over a multi-ethnic populace consisting of Gyeil in the north and northeast, Manthi in the south, and Veedormin in the west, many of whom were indentured serfs. There was constant tension between these groups but the state church helped weld them together. By the seventh century there were pressures to reform the church and do away with perceived aristocratic control, which began as a theological discourse but ended with radicals who wished reform of the whole political system, doing away with the empire altogether.

As a result of the war, northern regions of the empire fell into schism and were absorbed by Ororr, while southern and eastern regions became independent. The bulk of the country formed the new nation of Hesjbagaaia, surrounded by a multiplicity of independent fiefdoms and kingdoms. The old King-Emperors survived in the southwestern region of Chosilha, due to the support of local tribes and, crucially, Eijult mercenaries.
