The rite of Webrokshar is based on an ancient Chelidt ritual, yebrogzar, revived in the 5th century to punish heretics against the reformation of the church.

During the ritual, the traitor, who may be either alive or dead, is securely bound and locked in a strong wooden casket, then buried in the ground, accompanied by a ritual chant of condemnation. Occasionally parts of the body are chained or nailed to the casket.

The Church of Hartrah has a taboo against burial, in the belief that it traps the soul. The traitor's soul is then said to be forever trapped in the earth, an eternity of suffering, rather than being released to eternal freedom in the sky and waters.
