Cheliga developed as an organised expression of traditional Manthi beliefs, and became the state religion of Veedormim and its empire. It was suppressed from the third century ME when the Ennseperan Empire took control of Veedormim, sending missionaries from the Heterodox Church. Today the nation is officially Heterodox, but remnants of Cheliga ritual remain in mass public ceremonies as well as animist practices by peasant peoples.
