The Gebjons were of Gobalay heritage. The later kings of the Gaal Empire recruited warriors from the neighbouring barbarian territory of Gobal, since the Gobalay were considered fierce fighters and not loyal to any Gaal faction. In 1965 the Gobalay Guard seized power, replacing the kings and matriarchs of Gaal in a period called the Gobalay Interregnum.

The last Gobalay warlord Gebjon Vequidch brought peace to the Gaal territories, made new conquests, and founded the Empire of Dor-en-Sann.
