Besoa [BEH-sso-AH], or Bizoa (Hartraan), is the largest island in the southern reach of the Natorn Archipelago. Today it is synonymous with the United Kingdom of Besoa.

The Natorn Archipelago, or the Natorn Isles [nah-TORN], is a chain of islands in the Natorn Sea. The islands are oceanic ridge running from the northeastern tip of Anásthias to the Anrel Isles. The ridge is an active geological fault, many of the islands being volcanic.Anásthias.
The island is 52 km east-west, its closest point being 7 km from the mainland.
History
It was first settled by the Kingdom of Heronbar, during which time the north side of the island was cleared of virid vegetation and turned into a pleasure garden for the Heronbaht kings and nobility.
After the downfall of Heronbar, the island was held for a short time by the Prince of Antyoq, last surviving heir to the Heronbaht kingdom, but was eventually annexed by the Kingdom of Sann'al. The Alsaneth Republic made attempts to seize control of the island, though all met with decisive defeat.
In the 7th century ME the gardens, which had fallen into decay, were carefully reseeded with virid plant and animal life, and turned into a plantation for decorative golden perian trees imported from the Eastern Isles. Horticulturists developed new varieties of trees which became a vital resource for Sann'ali shipbuilding, as well as for making high quality furniture and other wooden goods for export.
During the final stages of the Bizoan War, Sann'ali Royalists burned the perian plantations so as to not let them fall into the hands of the Hartherans. Despite the destruction, some saplings were smuggled out planted in the Crown Prince's palace of exile in Belisan Freeport.
