Lerit was founded as a market city by the ancient Jorothi. It later came under the influence of the Rubaporat though retained its native kings. In the Beryl Epoch it came under the influence of the Kingdom of Deltirot, in their efforts to colonise westward towards the sea. The city later came to prominence in the early development of Ennseperan Empire, when it became an arrival point for refugees fleeing westward along the river from lands occupied by the Mother Army of Ororr. The new empire was officially founded here, and Lerit was the empire's capital for some time.
