They followed an animist philosophy called Tsaarmody, a descendant of traditional Thalsic animism. In particular they believed that certain rocks and rock formations contained an essential spiritual essence. These natural formations were representative of the spirit world beyond our own which is reflected in the night skies. This belief system was embraced by the nomadic tribes of the desert, and its greatest rituals were centred around the hermit-priests who inhabited various holy islands and oases throughout the region.

The hermits had an oral tradition of lengthy prayer-tales, which had to be constantly be recited to maintain the separation between the worlds of Before-Now-After. From ancient times and throughout the Ensanni Imperial period, local tribes as well as pilgrims from further afield would visit and consult with the hermits, bringing them gifts and sacrifices in return for guidance and wisdom.

With the coming of the Great Prophet Therion to the temple shrine at Foratuna in the first century ME, most of the local tribespeople were converted to the new faith. Groups of traditionalists continued into the second century, but the last remaining Tsaarmodites were eventually rooted out from their shrines or viciously killed. Despite this, many isolated tribes of the deserts and eastern hills still carry on the tradition of reciting songs, mixing ancient prayers with the Theristplugin-autotooltip__small plugin-autotooltip_bigMother Church of Ororr (Therism)
